Our school tour

On Wednesday all the children in Junior and Senior Infants went to Airfield house.  We were nature detectives for the day; finding animals in the farmyard; minibeasts near the pond; wild flowers in the meadow.  We got to feed the chickens and learn about interestingtrees.

Aistear: Chinese New Year

We learned a lot obout Chinese New Year during Aistear time this week.  We heard how the animals were chosen for each year; we coloured in lanterns, made Chinese New Year animal jigsaws; made chinese letters with playdoh and painted Chinese  New Year animal masks.

Korean day

Baha’i Festival

Vivienne’s mum, Hailey, spoke to the children about the Baha’i festival of Ridvan.  She told us that Ridvan is part of a twelve-day festival and refers to a beautiful garden near Baghdad.  We talked about loving and respecting other people.  Hailey sang a song. Our 3rd week in school!

We went to a real science lab!

We are so lucky! We got to visit a real science lab in St. Tiernan’s today.  We met ‘Bones’ the skeleton, learned about our heart and our pulse.  Real scientists wear white coats and special glasses-look at our scientist Hailey!

Science week!

This week is Science week.  Yesterday we learned all about Neil Armstrong and the first landing on the moon.  Today we made a chocolate moon and looked at the craters our playdough meteorites made!  We also launched a balloon rocket and made biscuit planets.  We had great fun!
